Worrying about your job security? Wondering if your resources will outlast the recession? Cutting back on ‘little luxuries’ like Starbuck’s, dry cleaning, and ice cream? Tempted to give less to church?

Me, too. But this morning, reading the most practical verse in Scripture made my face turn red and sent my outlook soaring. Here it is: And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)

ALL my needs. Now, I have read this verse countless times before, but this time the words prodded me to ask if I actually believed it. In a practical sense. I knew I should answer with a resounding “Yes, Lord. I believe you will provide for all my needs.” But a slight hesitation sent me searching for other verses like it. Maybe the verse didn’t cover physical needs. Maybe it meant God would cover all my spiritual needs.

Check out Psalm 116:6. And Hebrews 4:16. While you’re at it, don’t skip over Matthew 6:8 and verses 25-34. Then, let me know what you think. Do you believe God can meet your financial needs? Just wondering if your face turned as red as mine…
